It is a fact that South Africa still legs behind when it comes to music educators. Those that are there they continue to ply their trade in urban South Africa whilst our rural communities are left behind. To address this short fall in our established centres we have introduced learner ship programs.

The class attendance was mainly satisfactory but it must be reported that because of academic subjects presented at some high schools (especially in Mathematics and Science), some learners had to exercise a choice between attending music classes and academic classes.

Whenever a pattern of absenteeism was detected, the project leader followed up such cases by personally visiting the academic schools that such students attended, to call in the help of the school principal to solve the problem.

Many bursaries continue to be awarded to individuals to learn music at tertiary institutions both in South Africa and abroad.
