LEARNERSHIP
It is a fact that South Africa still legs behind when it
comes to music educators. Those that are there they continue to ply their
trade in urban South Africa whilst our rural communities are left behind.
To address this short fall in our established centres we have introduced
learner ship programs. In the North West at Mmabana String Project, we
have fast tracked ten students in the past three years through Grade0 - 8
Trinity Exam Board. Whilst studying their respective instrument, they are
also assisting Nkoshilo and Ion with the beginners - that is already
training them how to teach.
In the year 2007 six of them will start new SAMET programs within the
North West; the rural Taung will be one of the beneficiaries of the new
string project, whilst four of them will be incorporated in the JPO cadet
program.
In the Mangaung String Project the same program is being introduced as the
advanced students have become assistants to Francois and Peter.
